A Trifle Bazaar began in 2005 as a duo with Larry and June. Their interest in Eastern European / Middle Eastern music was driven by Larry’s love affair with the oud (second to June of course) and June’s love of Eastern European dance.
After a couple of years of playing around the Bay of Islands area with various musicians they were joined in 2008 by Ben and Dimitri who share a passion for this style of music. All four musicians have played in previous bands covering all manner of genres.
A Trifle Bazaar is now gaining recognition and a following for it’s distinctive sound. Strong melodies, driving rhythms, fine musicianship and good humour provide the cornerstones from which the group continues to grow.
